Aviation Security Oversight
Civil Aviation Authority of Solomon Islands (CAASI) is mandated legally to promote safety and security in compliance with the International Civil Aviation Organization Standards and Recommended Practices (ICAO SARPS).
In so doing, Solomon Islands has implemented its State Safety Programme in relation to Aviation Security.
The core function includes Regulatory Oversight and certification of aviation security service providers in accordance with ICAO Annex 17 and National Programmes such as the National Civil Aviation Security Programme (NCASP), National Civil Aviation Security Quality Control Programme (NCASQCP) National Civil Aviation Security Training Programme (NCASTP) and Solomon Islands Civil Aviation Rule Parts 140,108,109 and 139 respectively.
The functions and responsibilities are to ensure a safe, secure and efficient civil aviation security system in Solomon Islands, thereby contributing to secure and sustainable air transport.
This is done through implementation of quality control measures that are defined as the surveillance techniques and activities used to assess a State’s Civil Aviation Security System.
Quality Assurance Audits and Inspections shall be conducted to identify non-compliance with regulatory and NCASP requirements.
