AIR NAVIGATION SERVICES
Air Navigation Service Office obligations is to carry out safety oversight duties on the Air Navigation Services Providers in the Solomon Islands, the Air Navigation Services providers are, Air Traffic Services (ATS), Meteorological services (MET), Communication, Navigation and Surveillances services (CNS), Aeronautical Information Services (AIS) and Search and Rescue Services (SAR).
The Safety oversight on these Air Navigation Services providers is to ensure their activities complies with the CAASI CAR Parts as well as the relevant ICAO Standard and Recommended Practices (SARP) or Annexes.
CAASI also undertakes safety oversight of ANS providers overseas. These include Airservices Australia and Aeropath New Zealand who undertakes air traffic control in the SI upper airspace and AIP management respectively.
ANSPs are regulated by CAR 172, MET providers are regulated by CAR 174, CNS standards are covered by CAR171 and AIS is regulated by CAR175. Search and Rescue operations are regulated under Annex 12.
